Our Objective

The objective of Nasha Mukri Campaign is to create public awareness and to educate specially children and young people about, the ill-effects of alcoholism, tobacco and other substance abuse on individual, family and society at large.

Our Philosophy

We believe that Drug addiction in any form, is a serious social evil and prevention of this evil is better than cure. we also believe that this demonic evil cannot be eradicated only by making rules by the governments. To deal with the evils arising out of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs, it is necessary to spread awareness. Therefore, The Human Life Foundation has started a de-addiction program around the more affected areas like slums.

Drug addiction are a serious social evils that is more prevalent in slum areas. Addiction is such an evil that a person’s precious life becomes a victim of poverty and sometime premature death. Deadly narcotic drugs and substances like Charas, Smack, Cocaine, Brown Sugar are being used in the society for intoxication including Alcohol, Ganja, Bhang, Opium, Zarda, Gutkha,Tobacco and Smoking (Bidi, Cigarette, Hookah, Chillum) . Consumption of these poisonous and intoxicating substances causes physical, mental and economic harm to the person as well as pollutes the social environment.

It opens the door to complete destruction of personality, increase in poverty and death. Because of this even families are breaking up. It is essential to end this demonic tendency. As we all know smoking is injurious to health. This causes deadly diseases like cancer and this warning is compulsorily written on all tobacco products, almost everyone knows this. But people still consume it with great enthusiasm. It is the weakness of man that he starts consuming it slowly but gets used to it within a few days, once we get used to it, whether we consume it or not, craving makes everything happen.

Children and Adolescents face more threat

The worst condition is of those children who are not adults because the daily hassles or arguments of the parents due addiction have a bad effect on their conscience, such children are mentally backward in comparison to other children. The prevalence of drugs addiction is high during adolescence phase of transition. Adolescents are particularly vulnerable to a wide range of temptations due to the physical, psychological and emotional changes.  In this age, if not guided properly, the sexual attraction and consumption of both legal and illegal substances may allure them. But, here at Human Life Foundation, We believe that, if the proper guidance and education is given on time (at early age of childhood) the 14.6% adolescents who consume tobacco products, can be saved. Precaution is better than cure.

Most common addiction

There are many kinds of poisonous and intoxicating substances which people consume in society but here in slum areas tobacco and alcohol consumption is common-

  1. Tobacco dependency – In most of slums, many children started consuming tobacco products mostly GUTKHA therefore we have been facing a frightening rise of substance abuse among the youngsters in recent years. The graph of substance abuse has been rising at an alarming rate. According to a global youth tobacco survey in India, 14.6% of adolescents aged 13–15 years are currently using any tobacco product. This problem is seen across all socioeconomic groups. Tobacco use is also very common and is one of the biggest health threat and is responsible for not only the loss of millions lives but it also leads to heavy social costs including poverty. If, the current trend of tobacco use continues, around 8 million people will die every year from diseases related to tobacco use. Tobacco use is an emerging and horrifying problem in society.
  2. Alcoholic Dependency – Alcohol or other intoxicants are not essential to life and still ban in six states of India. Like tobacco, Alcohol is also an addictive substance that adversely affects body and mental health of a person. It’s one of the drugs that young people use the most, and it is most demanding after tobacco, in slum areas. Alcohol can increase the risk of other alcohol-related problems, including addiction, in early adulthood and beyond. In slums, most people start consuming alcohol at early age before adulthood and when sometime drunk heavily and can easily be found laying down on street in state of imbalance, slur speech, usually sick and vomit. Quitting is a difficult job for adults but saving their children is our responsibility. We, at HLF, take up responsibility and always try to save children. Save children in such a filthy environment is really a tough challenging task.

Our strategy against drug dependency – Education, Awareness, Oath and treatment

1. Education

(Precautionary education at Early age in our school)

The Human Life Foundation (HLF) Jaipur, being a charitable trust, has mainly involves in education for poor children. The HLF has its schools in different locations in slums in slum areas at Jaipur. Therefore in schools, we explain about the harmful effects of tobacco, alcohol / drug  addiction through movies, stories, and presentations followed by a question & answer session. Our main objective is to educate children but while teaching them, we have noticed that most of the children consumes tobacco at early age of  8, and are much addicted to it.  After a survey, it was primarily noticed that the probability of tobacco/alcohol/drug addiction are more in the childhood stage. We thought that a special program should be launched under which we put a special focus on children to liberate them from vicious cycle of tobacco dependency. More than 1500 children have successfully saved till now.

2. Awareness Programs-

We know that this evil cannot be eradicated only by making laws. It is necessary to spread awareness. Therefore, The Human Life Foundation has started a following awareness programs to counteract addiction.

(b) Mass Awareness Rallies

(a). Awareness Camps

The HLF organizes awareness camps/session/programs. We invites subject specialist and motivators who delivers a motivational speech for the beneficiaries in these programs. The motivators, while speaking on the occasion of camp gives stakeholders tips and methods on how to overcome addiction and how to stay away from tobacco and liquor. The parents of our school children are already addicted. Children and women are also most vulnerable to the addiction. So the subject specialists inspire  vulnerable community, how to take right preventive measure. They urge all the people to SAY NO TO TOBACCO and LIQUOR and YES TO LIFE. They also speak about how people can create a beautiful life for themselves by quitting. Raising awareness through educating the public on regular basis gives positive results.

HLF organized mass awareness rally in which children of Human Life School, youngsters, girls and people from different walks of life participates. Those who attend rally keep placards, Slogan boards, posters, banners in their hands. loudly speaking songs and slogans against ill effects of illicit substances use and its effects on boy and mind. This rally passes through the streets of nearby affected areas, continuously giving message to viewers, that it is better to say no to substances before it completely spoil your life. The rally put a positive impacts of psyche of participants and viewers both. Many times this strategy works properly and people in really get inspired and take oath. Many people have give up tobacco and alcohol forever.

3. Oath

A person with a strong and willpower can easily take a strong decision of quitting. Therefore the stakeholders are requested and advised to take oath to quit liquor, tobacco and all intoxicating substances. Many people and youth have taken pledge.

Take Oath and Quit
SAY NO TO TOBACCO & LIQUOR

A person with a strong will power can easily take a strong decision of quitting. Therefore the stakeholders are advised to take oath and quit liquor, tobacco and other intoxicating substances.

4. Treatment

However, Yoga and Meditation are also helpful in quitting at early stage dependency because it make the mind strong. Therefore we also motivate people to practice Yoga and Asanas every day early in early morning. We have been also planning to conduct yoga meditation session for making people healthy and happy. Those who have been suffering with severe drug dependency and can’t quit even after taking regular counseling, yoga meditation and oath, are advised go to take medicines from a de-addiction centre or from a psychiatrist so that the treatment / deaddiction process is started and their life is saved.
